In 1997, founder and patriarch Marcelo Doffo watched out over a humble parcel of undeveloped land in Southern California’s Temecula Valley, and contemplated his next phase in life. After developing an effective auto repair business, he yearned to go back to his roots and when again cultivate the earth. While he grew up on the family soybean and corn farm in rural Argentina, this venture would have to do with his brand-new enthusiasm: wine making.
25 years later on Doffo Winery has become among the most reputable wineries in the growing Temecula Valley AVA, named among the world’s best red wine travel destinations in 2019 by Red Wine Enthusiast Publication. The winery’s success is in no small part thanks to the vision and effort of Marcelo and his kids Samantha, Brigitte and Damian. The winery likewise houses an impressive vintage motorbike collection and moto-themed wine collection, representing the family’s other enthusiasm, that wine- and moto enthusiasts travel far and wide to experience.
“I purchased some land so I could play in the dirt. I purchased a tractor so I could have fun with the tractor,” stated Marcelo. “When we went to get accredited, we never ever meant to become a huge winery; we simply wanted to make red wine for ourselves. So, it’s a terrific feeling to see how far we’ve come.”
“Father’s tradition is super important to everybody, particularly making certain that we still make him happy,” said Samantha Doffo, who supervises of occasions, tours, and experiences for the winery. “I would like to think that folks who have actually been clients for many years still see a part of my papa in each people. At the end of the day, none of us would be here without his crazy concept, and all we hope for is to continue doing what we love and have the ability to share it as siblings, with our kids, and with everybody that comes to enjoy the fruits of papa’s labor.”
