1921-2022: 101 years of the popular yellow, red and gold labels.
Riquewihr, November 8, 2022– This Saturday November 12 will mark the 13th #HugelDay, commemorated around the globe. A celebration with a clearly Alsatian feel that draws in more and more Alsace wine fans every year.
Released in the United States in 2009, this occasion showcases Famille Hugel white wines at white wine merchants and in dining establishments. This year, for its 13th edition, #HugelDay 2022 has a brand-new motto: “Let’s talk Alsacian!” in homage to Famille Hugel’s roots, securely planted in Riquewihr in Alsace (France) since 1639.
The #HugelDay 2022 visual campaign also features signs of Alsace such as a stork, half-timbered houses and pretzels etc. And, obviously, these are all in Famille Hugel’s favourite colours– red and yellow. Why these 2 warm colors? Since in 1918 Alsace became part of France once again, and its white wine producers had to deal with significant economic changes and reassess the product packaging of their white wines. Prior to this, Jean Hugel, the dad and grandpa of the present generations, had trained in the marketing department of the well-known Swiss food brand MAGGI ™. At that time, market research into the presentation of its items showed that yellow, red, and gold were the colors people preferred, and these were quickly embraced by the business. The young Jean Hugel rapidly (and successfully) took this on board and so, since 1921, the red wines of Famille Hugel have been identifiable the world over for their famous yellow, red, and gold labels.
On November 12, #HugelDay 2022 will get the word out about Alsace and its fantastic white wines in New york city, Oslo, Paris, Tokyo, Shanghai, Riquewihr (naturally) and lots of other cities around the world. Since Famille Hugel has been passing on its know-how from generation to generation because 1639, it is now readily available and much-appreciated in more than 100 countries.
