Smith & & Hook White wines are a “sister brand” of the Hahn family’s estate. Founders Nicky Hahn and his spouse Gaby Hahn initially planted vineyards back in the 1970s, and thanks to them, the Santa Lucia Highlands has gathered so much regard as a white wine area. They put it on the map.
Nicky Hahn, born in Switzerland, died in 2018 and left an unbelievable wine making legacy. Philip Hahn, Nicky’s child, had a successful profession on Wall Street however eventually returned to his agricultural roots in Soledad to take the helm as chairman of Hahn Household Red Wines. Aged in French oak, this beautiful crimson white wine has scents of cherries, cassis, cedar, warm gravel and graphite– resulting in plum, leather and tobacco accents. Expressive and tasty, the white wine likewise features blackberry, dark cherry, cassis and mocha layers. It is really a stunning white wine– and I’m just going to pour myself another glass!
