CLARKSVILLE TN (CLARKSVILLE NOW)– Clarksville’s first red wine bar, The Vine on Franklin, opened in March, owned by Army veterans Emily and Jake Trageser.
The business got off to a fantastic start this year, receiving Gold for Best Wine Choice in the Clarksville’s Best contest.

Falling in love, with red wine
Emily joined the Army in 2000, coming to Fort Campbell in 2002 and after that releasing to Iraq in 2003. She satisfied Jake at Fort Campbell in 2004, they were married in 2005, and she left the military in 2006. She stated her spouse served in the Army for 24 years up until his retirement in 2016.
After going back to California, the household hung around in the white wine producing region of California, ending up being more familiar with excellent wines, constantly understanding that one day they would be coming back to Clarksville.
Emily Trageser said she and Jake talked for a couple of years about how cool it would be to open a wine bar, so in 2018 they chose to make a go of it. They began setting out the plans for their new business, with the real deal with the structure on Franklin Street beginning in 2019.
“What we wish to provide is a location for people to discover and find, and beverage red wine that makes them delighted, but discover new wines and learn more about pairing and find out about some lesser-known red wines from areas of the world,” Trageser stated.
Together with pairings of cheese, seafood and other specials, Trageser added that they have red wines from all over the world, including South Africa, Australia and South America.
“If you want something that recognizes, we’ve got lots of those red wines. We’ve also got other things that you can try if you’re feeling adventurous and wish to discover something new. Our food menu supplies best pairing alternatives for practically anything on our white wine list,” Trageser stated.
Beginning an organization
When it pertains to recommendations for other service members considering beginning a business as they shift out of the military, Trageser stated it assists if you’re actually persistent, since you’re going to have some obstacles and frustrations.
Trageser discussed the time, effort and documentation involved. “If you truly, really want this to happen, it’s a lot, so ensure if you do not know something, get someone who does, that’s really handy,” Trageser said.

The Vine on Franklin can be discovered at 128 Franklin St. They are open Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday, 3-10 p.m., Friday 3-11 p.m., Saturday, 10 a.m.-11 p.m., and Sunday, 1-8 p.m. On Saturday they offer breakfast from 10 a.m.-3 p.m., and they are closed on Monday.
