Westport Winery Wins Best of Class at Women’s International Wine Competition – ThurstonTalk

Westport Winery made three dual gold medals and also 2 Best of Class awards at the 2021 International Women’s Red wine Competitors held on May 11 and also 12 in Santa Rosa, The Golden State.

Courage, the vineyard’s Sagrantino (a virtually vanished red Italian varietal) was granted 96-points by the courts gaining it a double gold medal and also Best of Class. Westport collected the grapes for this unbelievably bold white wine at Inland Desert Baby Room in the Yakima Valley AVA. The label features original art by vineyard co-owner Kim Roberts. A portion of the earnings from this wine profits the American Lung Organization. McCleary artist Tyler Hansen developed the art celebrating this tag in the vineyard’s 15-acre outdoor sculpture yard.

Bog Berry Blush, Westport’s preferred cranberry Gewurztraminer mix, made a score of 95-points from the courts in addition to a double gold medal and Best of Course honor. The winery is located on Washington’s beautiful Cranberry Coastline home to numerous Sea Spray cranberry farms. The Gewurztraminer was picked from 30-year-old vines at Red Willow Vineyard. This wine sets flawlessly with summer fun, fall holidays, as well as wintertime retreats. Tokeland artist Wally Mann’s depiction of the historic Furford cranberry picker is on the tag. Fittingly this red wine benefits the WSU Research Terminal and Cranberry Gallery in Long Beach, Washington. Hoquiam musician Carrie Larsen developed the walk-through sculpture recognizing this choice.

Dawn Patrol, an unique mix of Riesling from both Red Willow and Elephant Mountain Vineyards, along with luscious raspberries, earned another 95-point score and a dual gold medal. Some earnings from this wine are committed to sustaining Harmony Hillside Cancer cells Resort in Union, Washington. Well-known wood artist Jeffro Uitto of Tokeland created the giant razor clam sculpture situated in the sand catch of the vineyard’s 9-hole exec golf course. The Dawn Patrol tag was painted by Camarillo, California, watercolorist Darryl Easter.

Each of these red wines, in addition to over 30 other prize-winning options, are available for tasting daily at Westport Vineyard Garden Hotel. The winery has a double sampling area with their very own Ocean’s Little girl Distillery spirits tasting. For those that want to make a day of it, the gardens call for several hours of expedition. The hotel is house to the non-profit International Mermaid Museum with its own galley, gift shop, exhibition area, and also sampling room. Make certain to prepare time in your check out to eat in the acclaimed Sea Glass Grill. These enjoyable facilities are open daily from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and all ages rate.
