We tasted 3 of the Black Stallion offerings, beginning with an uncommon albarino. Some grape transplants from the Old World work exceptionally well in California, with cabernet sauvignon, merlot, pinot noir and chardonnay starring in most California table red wines and also, sometimes, rivaling their European forefathers. Grapes, such as sangiovese, have not fared also after the first enthusiasm discolored.
