It’s tough for us to delight in a red wine right now of the year unless we are in cool spaces. With the exception of barbecuing steaks, our summer season fare tends to have even more fish and shellfish or even just a salad. It’s a better time for cooled white wines. The fresh acidity of sauvignon blanc, for instance, cools down the taste as well as makes a wonderful aperitif. Fruits, vegetables and grilled poultry with citrus sauces are perfect food to couple with sauvignon blanc.
