ANA White Wine and Spirits
Liz Clayman
Just recently, I found a new neighborhood red wine store: ANA Red wine & & Spirits in Hudson Yards. Set on the 1st floor of The Shops, the store is a brand-new twist on the timeless neighborhood white wine merchant. Influenced by wine cultures from across the globe, it positions a strong focus on natural and biodynamic red wines and provides a large variety of lesser-known wines and champagnes.
The space itself is lovely and welcoming– developed like a gallery or loft with floor-to-ceiling windows throughout, along with oversized flower displays. Inside, there are actually hundreds of distinct white wine and spirit varieties, many from under-the-radar ladies- and minority-owned producers typically overlooked by other red wine stores.
“Businesses in this industry used to be passed from daddy to son, now, it’s all more inclusive,” observed ANA Red wine & & Spirits General Supervisor and Sommelier David Smith. As this principles modifications, he said, it provides chances not only for new generations of red wine growers but new audiences eager to enjoy their offerings.
I met David who shared his four favorite white wine regions and a “wild card.” Discover his choices for the best red wines to require to family gatherings and your good friends houses this holiday and beyond.
